Kevin.Murphy Young Again Hair Wash & Rinse

Photo from

I am only 27 so I don't think I have old looking hair, but I was given these products as samples so I had to try them. Actually, I am a free sample junkie so I was very excited!

In the shower, when I first applied the wash, I was worried. I didn't get as good of a lather as I do with my current shampoo. After I washed it out I put on the rinse to condition. The smell of both products was wonderful.

I got out of the shower, used my regular styling product to protect my hair from heat, and blow dried. The texture of my hair was exceptional! My hair felt so soft and it was frizz free. I never realized my hair looked old until I used Kevin Murphy's Young Again Wash & Rinse.

I went to dinner with my husband after using these products and the subtle smell lasted for hours. I was also surprised that they kept the frizz away, because it was rainy and ugly outside.

These products are not inexpensive. They range anywhere from $30 to $70 on Amazon. I am not sure how much they would cost from a salon. These products are well worth the price. Your hair will look & feel like you just had it professionally washed and styled.

Brow Bling Is A NO

Photo from

Brow Bling is the new thing. This Hunger Games inspired trend just hit Ulta's brow bar and is available to everyone. It's not just a runway look (which I would be okay with.)
I even saw a girl on Facebook that is planning on incorporating rhinestone clad eyebrows into her wedding makeup.

Normally, I am receptive to new trends and even embrace them, but I just can't make myself like this one. It is so tacky!

I wasn't even aware of brow bling until I flipped through the Ulta circular yesterday. I immediately showed it to my husband and he commented that this new makeup trend was terrible. Generally, I think men are more attracted to a natural look.

Benefit Cosmetics is selling a set of 52 Swarovski crystals in two colors for $25. I am not sure how much it costs to have them applied at the brow bar. You can easily do it yourself by following the below steps & trick from Ulta's website...

Peel off black backing sheet. Use tweezers to pick up the self-adhesive crystals then place next to or directly onto brows. Press with finger to secure. Gently pull off crystals to remove. Adhesive on back of crystal is dermatologist tested.
Beauty tip: Bring the bling...a little or a lot.
Tip 1: Touch O' Bling: Apply 3 crystals, evenly spaced, along brow bone. Begin under brow arch and finish at end of brow.
Tip 2: Big-Time Bling: Select crystals and press directly onto brow hairs. Follow the shape of brow and place evenly throughout.
Trick 1: For repeat use, apply crystals with a tiny dab of lash glue.Trick 2: The glitzy tin doubles as a trinket box.

I was looking online for Black Friday deals and stumbled upon a great resource, a blog called Nouveau Cheap.

The blog has an extensive list of several beauty deals that will be available on November 28th; including, Bath & Body Works, major drugstores, department stores, and specialty makeup stores like Ulta & Sephora. It also has specials from specific brand's websites such as Urban Decay.

Christian Louboutin 'Rouge Louboutin - Starlight' Nail Colour

Photo from

Yes the bottle is beautiful and it is encrusted with 1,500 two tone Strass crystals, but it is not worth $675. That is not a typo! Christian Louboutin's new nail polish is $675!

According to Nordstrom, "one coat gives a luxe, glossy color while two coats give the effect of 20 layers of traditional nail lacquer." An amazing claim, but only $30 of amazing in my mind. Thankfully it is long wearing and chip resistant. Oh, this polish is also gluten-free. I guess if you are crazy enough to pay $675 for a nail lacquer, you may also be crazy enough to eat it.

I can not justify spending this much for nail polish so I will not be testing it. You can buy the same product for $50 sans the fancy packaging, which is much more reasonable. This fancy item is more for the Beyonce's and Kim K's of the world.

Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Balm - Pudgy Peony

Photo from

I just purchased this product last night after falling in love with it during a Clinique makeup consultation. It is the perfect fall color!

As with all Chubby Sticks, this product is very moisturizing and feels wonderful on my lips. I am just getting over a cold so my lips have been chapped lately. My skin just sucked in the moisture as soon as I put it on. It is not sticky at all either.

I 100% recommend all of the Chubby Sticks, and especially love this color!

Clinique Makeup Consultation

If you follow my blog, you know I am a Clinique girl at heart. I stopped by my local Clinique makeup counter yesterday to pick up my free Chubby Stick in Chunky Cherry and ended up sitting through a makeup consultation.

The consultant first applied Clinique's CC cream and under eye concealer. I absolutely loved the CC cream because it was lightweight and did not look caked on. The under eye concealer, on the other hand, made me look old and wrinkly. You could see the product sitting on top of my skin and it did not blend well.

Next, she applied eye shadow which looked beautiful. I have loved every Clinique shadow I have ever tried. The pink in this particular palette made my eyelids look natural and dewy.

The consultant attempted to apply liquid eyeliner with a different brush than the one that comes with it. She did a terrible job at this. I don't think the eyeliner was a bad product, she just had it all over the place.

She finished my makeup with a Pudgy Peony Chubby Stick. I ended up purchasing this color because it looked so great!

After I went home and removed the eyeliner, I was more than thrilled with the makeup! I know it is terrible for my skin, but I left it on for my evening spin class. Although I am sure it clogged my pores, the makeup looked just as good after sweating as it did before I got to the gym.

Clinique Party Eyes Made Easy

Clinique's limited edition eye shadow compact is available now at the Bon-Ton for $29.50 with any Clinique purchase. Click Here To Purchase

I stopped by the Bon-Ton this weekend to buy my face moisturizer and picked this up while I was there. I was so excited to try the pallet that I made my husband drive home while I played!

Inside was 3 brushes, 2 sponge tip applicators, 13 colors, and instructions on how to apply. I followed the instructions on which brush to use and picked three colors that matched my outfit. My eyes looked great.

The compact itself is very attractive and sturdy. In the unfortunate circumstance that I would drop it, the eye shadows might not break.

Overall, this compact is a must! It won't be around for long because it is limited edition. Even if its not for you, it would make a great Christmas gift.

NYX Primal Colors - Hot Pink

Photo from

I purchased this eye shadow to wear for Halloween and was extremely pleased with it. You can make the color as vibrant or subtle as you want just by blending. It stays on for a long period of time without smudging, even when you don't use a primer first. For $5, this product cannot be beat.
It could just as easily be worn every day, as it could be worn at night, or special occasions. I cannot wait to try some of the other Primal Colors NYX offers!

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense - Mightiest Maraschino

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Mightiest Maraschino

Clinique's Chubby Sticks are one of my favorite lip products. I love the color selection and the way they make my lips feel. I don't know whether I would consider chubby sticks a gloss or lipstick because they are sort of in-between. They make my lips feel moisturized for hours after application.

Mightiest Maraschino is a great red for fair skin. I feel very comfortable wearing this color. It actually lasts longer than I expected.
Chubby Sticks are advertised as a product you can apply without a mirror, but with a red like this I need to see what I am doing. My only complaint is that sometimes the color bleeds or gets on my teeth.

Frederic Fekkai Hair Fragrance Mist Creme Vanillee

I just bought the vanilla Fekkai Hair Perfume this weekend and I am wearing it for the first time today. The smell is not overpowering at all which is great for work or any occasion. This product is perfect for me because I am one of the many women who doesn't wash their hair everyday. Not only does this mist make my hair smell fresh but it also controls frizz and eliminates static. I sprayed this product liberally and it did not make my hair greasy at all. I chose this scent because I thought it would be good for fall. I can't wait to try the Citron Et Menthe fragrance this spring. Fekkai's hair mists sell for $20 and are a must have!

Update on Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm

My Thoughts One Week Later

I liked this product but I will not be using it for a week straight again. Thankfully the 'gleaming coral' color was neutral and I could wear it with all of my outfits, but it was tough not to put on one of my several other lip products during this week.

Pros: I really enjoyed the taste and smell of this product. The balm enhanced my natural lip color for several hours. I also liked the slim packaging. I could easily slip this product into my front pocket and it wasn't bulky like a round tube would be. I didn't actually notice the difference this product made to my lips until I looked at the before & after images (pictured and described below).

Cons: This product retails for $8.99, which I think is a little high for a drug store brand lip balm. During the first couple of days of wear I experienced tingling. After it subsided, some of the outer layers of skin on my lips sloughed off which made this lip balm appear gummy. The product also felt messy. I was always concerned that the color transferred to my teeth or wasn't on evenly.

Before &After: As you can see in the pictures, the lines on my lips nearly disappeared after one week. This was not something I noticed by just looking in the mirror, and I probably wouldn't have realized until I compared these pictures. My lips now look younger and healthier. I think my lip color darkened a little also.

Before and after from left to right.

Clinique's All About Shadow Duo - Strawberry Fudge

All About Shadow Duo - Strawberry Fudge

Clinique's All About Shadow Duo in Strawberry Fudge is an eye shadow palette I wear almost everyday to work. It's easy to apply. I simply brush the pink color onto my eyelids. Sometimes I even apply it up to my brows. I use the foam sponge applicator tip to apply the brown color to my creases. The colors are subtle and perfectly accentuate my blue eyes.

As with any Clinique eye shadow I have tried, you do not need to use a primer. The colors stay where they are supposed to and don't crease or smudge.

The All About Shadow Duo's sell for $20 and Clinique offer's nineteen color combinations. Clinique shadows can also be purchased in singles and quads. I usually wait to buy my products at Clinique until they offer a free gift with purchase. These promotions run several times a year at different department stores.

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm

I am starting a challenge to see if this product's claims are accurate.

Neutrogena advertises that this product will, "make lips softer, rosier and healthier-looking, even after you take it off! This sheer tinted balm with exclusive ion2complex™ instantly moisturizes lips, leaving them looking fuller and more defined. In just one week, it helps improve lips' texture and restores the look of rosiness."

My first impressions of this product is that the color is wonderful and it isn't super sticky or thick but... it makes my lips tingle a bit and the color sometimes gets clumpy after it's on for a while. The tingly-ness feels similar to many lip plumping products I have tried, but I don't believe this balm is marketed as doing that.

Below is a picture of what my lips look like today (the first day of my challenge.) I will post more throughout the week!

Day 1 - This is the Healthy Blush color.

e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip

e.l.f Shimmering Facial Whip

Lately I have only been blogging about products I love, and thought I would change it up a bit by quickly talking about a product I really don't like. I know a lot of people swear by e.l.f.'s Shimmering Facial Whip, which is why I tried it, but it feels so heavy on my skin and is very sticky. I think this product feels cheap (it was under $2). My hair got stuck in it, it takes too long to dry, and I felt like my pores were clogged the entire time I had it on. A powder or blush stick would get the job done much better.

Whats on my face?

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion

Love this product! I needed this product after buying the Naked 2 eye shadow pallet because although the colors are wonderful, they tend to crease and smudge.  Now I use this primer when I want my shadows to be more vibrant or to stay put longer. It's easy to use and feels light on my eyelids. It's a must if you are planning on buying any of the Naked eye shadows!

Clinique High Impact Mascara

CLINIQUE High Impact Mascara

Clinique's High Impact Mascara in black is my favorite daytime mascara. I have been using this product for years. It stays put until I wash it off, it's never clumpy, and goes on easily. I consider this a daytime mascara because it doesn't lengthen or thicken my lashes like other products on the market. Instead, it gives me just enough pigment and enhancement to look classy and put together.

Baby Lips Gleaming Coral

Baby Lips Crystal in Gleaming Coral
I have loved every Baby Lips product I have tried and this is no different. Although it doesn't give a lot of color, it definitely moisturizes and makes my lips feel supple for an extended period of time. Since this product doesn't have a ton of pigment, you can quickly pull it out of your purse and put it on without looking in a mirror! Before applying, I was concerned about the crystals. I am 27 and don't want to wear something that looks like it was made for a pre-teen. Thankfully the sparkles are subtle which makes this product wearable at any age!
